Constitution door opens for Montenegrins (dailies)

UNMIK Media Monitoring, 28-04-2010
Koha Ditore reports that the Montenegrin community will soon be a legally recognized minority. Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu has already requested that the
Government begin the process of amending the Law on the Rights of Minorities, in order for Montenegrin citizens to enjoy the same rights of other minorities in Kosovo. Sejdiu‟s proposal was confirmed on Tuesday by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi during a regular meeting of the Government. He said that the changes will be made based on current circumstances in the country and based on continuous consultations with the President, the Assembly Chairperson, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and international authorities. “We have built wonderful relations with all countries of the region. We have been recognized by the Montenegrin state, and this amendment will of course only strengthen our relations,” said Thaçi.
