KEC Newsletter October 2010, 18/11/2010
■ Project EU-SIMRAES had continuous contacts during this month with 6 Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian community centers, as well as with partner NGO-s that implement the education component. During these meetings in the centers, needs for equipment and inventory have been identified, statistical data have been gathered for each of the centers (even though they don’t represent very reliable data), as well as each center was photographed with the aim of deeper analysis of their real needs.
EU-SIMRAES did a description of each center including detailed data such as community statistics, working space, communities that visit the centers, activities that are being organized and the ones they plan to organize in the future, etc.
■ During this period Education Component, implemented by KEC, has drafted detailed plans for implementation of the following programs:
• Preschool program (age 3-6)
• Reading and writing program
• School package support program (age 6-15)
• Homework support program (age 6-15)
• Youth activity program (this was given as a summary due to the fact that partner NGO-s are expected to organize these activities)
• Scholarship program
■ EU-SIMRAES Project is cooperating very closely with NGO-s and other partner agencies helping Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities. It is worth mentioning the coordination meeting held in Mitrovica on 13 October with MercyCorps, Caritas, DRC, UNICEF etc, aiming at introducing programs and projects and finding ways for activity
coordination.
■ During November it is planned to work in designing programs for each center and in cooperation with partner NGO-s will be developed and drafted the one-year plan for work that will be done according to the Drafted Inception Report plan.
■ In the end, it is worth mentioning that the Inception Report including KEC part, respectively education component is drafted in detail and sent to the Contracting Authority (KFOS) and after the completion of the other component on Media and Culture will be sent to ECLO for approval.
