Support to EU on Implementation of the Strategy for Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Communities (EU-SIMRAES)

■ Project EUSIMRAES during this month had continuous contacts wit 6 centers of RAE communities, as well as with partner NGO-s implementing the education component.

■ During this month and the following one we are working on developing yearly plans for the centers, as well as designing the programs that will be implemented in these centers. This will be completed in close cooperation with staff from the centers (respectively coordinators). Nevertheless, since we are still waiting for the signing of MOU and approval of the Inception Report, KEC is focused in gathering initial information on how these programs are implemented by other preschool institutions. In this regard, the following institutions have been visited:

■ In Prizren was visited school Ibrahim Fehmiu, respectively preschool program in this school, as well as the preschool institution “Mollëkuqja 2”, situated in a private building also in Prizren. In Prishtina was visited SOS village. During these visits we have been informed by representatives and pedagogues of these institutions regarding their activities, programs and annual plans implemented there. Based on the information presented it can be seen that all the centers implement MEST curricula, although with some changes in order to adapt to their concrete specifics
and needs.

■ KEC is cooperating with NGO-s and other partner agencies working in helping RAE communities. A coordination meeting was organized in Mitrovica on November 04, with Mercy Corps, Caritas, DRC, UNICEF, etc. This meeting is a continuation of the first meeting, where this time many issues were discussed in a more detailed manner. KEC emphasized that it will start immediately with implementation of its programs the moment MOU-s are signed and the Inception Report is signed by ECLO. All the participating NGO promised to help the project, by complementing project activities with their resources, as well as by helping in cooperation with partner NGO in Mitrovica, RADC in developing the one year plan for this center.
